Choosing the right CEGEP
Tips for choosing the right CEGEP
You’re wondering about your choice of program and CEGEP? You have so many options! Each CEGEP has its own style, its own personality. To help you make an informed decision, here are a few tips to keep in mind.
The curriculum or the program?
All CEGEPs can be good choices: the quality of teaching you’ll receive from one school to the other is the same, each with equally skilled and committed teachers. To find the CEGEPs that offer the best programs for you, visit pygma.ca
While several CEGEPs may offer the same program with same requirements, and may seem to be the same from one CEGEP to the next, each school has different activities, characteristics, profiles and paths.
Want to know more?
Register as a student-for-a-day and meet with teachers and students! Each CEGEP offers this chance to talk with teachers, to visit the facilities and to get the vibe of the school during a normal day of classes. (Currently suspended due to the pandemic).

Some elements to consider:
- Available services
- Resource and support centres

- Committees you may want to be involved in
- Opportunities for international experiences

Convenience
Travel time is one factor to keep in mind. Take the test! See how long it takes you to get to the CEGEP. Choosing a CEGEP located near you can save you a lot of time you could spend studying, doing assignments, sleeping or having fun. If you do plan on a longer commute, use the time to get ahead in your readings.

Whatever you choose, you will then be able to enter university or the job market. The R-score is calculated so that all CEGEPs are on equal footing. Everyone has a fair chance to access university.
